Minnie, now in her early 90s, has survived raising 9 children , 3 bouts of cancer & the death of her spouse.  What helps Minnie is her love of music & her sense of humor.  Minnie, who is bilingual & of Mexican American heritage, was born & raised in Texas.  Her growing family lived in the Canal Zone in Panama from 1969 to 1976 where Minnie loved to entertain & feed many U.S. soldiers in their home for holidays.    The family moved to St. Louis from 1976 to 1981 for her

spouse’s job connected to the GeoSpace Center.  They loved the Canal Zone & returned to her spouse’s previous position there  from 1981 to 1986.  When he retired in 1986, they moved back to Texas, & in 2004, they returned to South St. Louis County to be closer to family.

“I just have been going along . . . everything comes around, and it's either hot or cold and you accept it and try not to complain about the weather but that's it . . . Try to have patience.  If you let worries go on, it mounds up and then you have got a lot more than what is really happening.
My sense of humor has helped a lot!”
